All I Want In A Man…

Originally published Feb. 9, 2021

All I want in a man is that he….

… pur in bed like my kitten while I read

… cluck enthusiastically over my cooking like my hens with their first morning grain

… prance like my old dog visiting his many girlfriends on his evening walk

… melt like my goat to my touch during milking

… rise up in passion like the eagles dancing during mating season

… stand by patiently like old man heron fishing with grace

… drop straight out of the sky like the kingfisher hunting

… wiggle like an earthworm and buzz like a bee

… stand steady as a mountain

… tumble down gleefully like a mountain stream on a warm spring day

… hug like the bear in my dream

… embrace the quiet and dark like the local owl in the cedar

… and radiate love and kindness like the morning sun in May.

…oh…

…and

… sing like a nightingale

… smell sweet like my beehive

… have a heart as big as my mustang’s

… be constant like the tides and still like a deep snowmelt lake

… listen like the deer grazing peacefully at dusk

… shop for me in the pandemic, and

… dance the polka like a strutting turkey!
