The Back Story

The vision and inspiration for "Imperial Tutor" was born at a Chinese astrology reading in the spring of 2017 where I learned that my professional focus in this lifetime is to serve as "Imperial Tutor." A Virtual Teahouse

My mentorship provides a lovingly moderated, self-contained community gathering place, created specifically for the exchange of information by me with you and among all of us together. Always open and ready to receive you, no matter where you are and what time it is in your part of the world, your online platform is there for you.
Moongate

On the first day of each lunar month (i.e. the New Moon), I invite you to enter the Qi of the month with a special post. Delivered via email as the first of your four weekly “scrolls” each month, you learn about the associated earthly branch and zodiac animal, seasonal nodes and holidays, stories, art, quotes, and other pertinent cultural information.
Lecture Hall

On our platform under the current and the previous two months, the “lecture hall” always presents information and registration links for live events (first or second Friday or Saturday of each month at 10 am PST), replaced with the actual recordings after the event.
Library

In addition to the permanent library that houses archived recordings, a “reference section,” and other helpful materials, the library of the current month and the two previous ones houses three “scrolls,” which you receive spaced a week apart via email. These are the “classical,” “medieval,” and “surprise” scrolls.
Imperial Tutorial

Always on the full moon, you receive an exclusively produced bonus episode of my podcast “A Pebble in the Cosmic Pond.”
Compared to the broader audience that we address in the public episodes (dropped every new moon), these special episodes feature more specialized content, produced with YOUR interests, needs, and preferences in mind. Feel free to suggest topics or featured guests!
Community

My mentorship is a vibrant and dynamic long-term community-building project, with a special core of members who have been with me since we started a dozen or so years ago. These include many of the brightest and most passionate and committed members of the global Chinese medicine community.
Tea Time Talks

Participate in monthly 1.5-hr-long lively and inspiring events, which aim to create multi-directional connection in the academically and classically oriented Chinese medicine community and to introduce some of my wise friends or engaging topics.
